Description:
The IFC Viewer has very few features. It would be useful to be able to do the following (sorted by relevance):
-
Hide elements or make them transparent.
I can’t see elements inside a room because the walls and roof occlude the content. For complex models, it is important to hide and show elements.
-
Model Browser: a tree of all the classes and the elements for each class, with interactivity.
-
Measure elements directly in the viewer.
See the comparison between the free IFC viewer from Autodesk and the IFC viewer in Viktor. I can’t see the ducts inside the top level in Viktor, so using another alternative becomes more convenient.
Current workarounds
None
Good request!
As for workarounds: do you get the functionalities you want if instead of the ifcviewer you instead put the .ifc in your acc and view it in VIKTOR through the autodeskviewer? Of course that’s not really a workaround that’s possible for anyone (you need acc, and a link between acc and VIKTOR), but just curious about the featureset
Yes, 100%. Using the ACC integration fully overcomes this and gives you access to the complete feature set of the Autodesk Viewer.
I’m mainly thinking about people in the Open BIM community who are really enthusiastic about IFC, and those using the free VIKTOR tier. Adding more features here would make it much easier and more natural for them to start using VIKTOR and keep working with it!
