FIXED - Publishing currently failing for apps on Python 3.12 or lower (when including system packages)

We’re aware that publishing is currently failing for some apps.

You’re affected if your app runs on Python 3.12 or lower and installs system packages (the packages entry in your viktor.config.toml). Publishing fails during the packing step.

Apps that are already published keep running normally, and publishing is unaffected if your app doesn’t install system packages.

We’ve identified the cause and are working on a fix.

Workaround: upgrade your app to Python 3.13 or 3.14, and publishing will work again right away. Check first that your dependencies support the newer version. The upgrade is worth doing regardless: you get a small speed improvement and the newer language features.

We’ll update this post once the fix is released.

We’ve just rolled out a fix. Publishing apps on Python 3.12 or lower with system packages should now work again. We still strongly suggest to upgrade your python version to the latest version where possible.
